Essential Conversations
Essential Conversations include any conversations between two or more people where the stakes are high and “agree to disagree” is not an option. A leader’s life is full of situations that require these conversations and this workshop helps improve them.
Description
Essential conversations are where the stakes are high and it is no longer possible to “agree to disagree.” Your essential conversations could include:
-
confronting staff about problems with their performance
-
misalignment or competition with allies and peers
-
struggles with the board or boss
-
dealing with misbehaviour by colleagues
-
negotiations with clients and stakeholders
-
conversations around power and privilege
In this workshop we explore a model for one-to-one essential conversations and a model for group essential conversations. You will have an opportunity to plan and practice essential conversations and will leave with all the skills need to implement the critical skill of having essential conversations.
This Essential Conversations workshop is designed to facilitate good communication and to search for the truth(s). This workshop is an opportunity to give yourself and others the benefit of being genuinely curious. Fully understanding a situation is the first step to dealing with it effectively. Ultimately, you’ll learn how to address negative behaviours to ensure those behaviours don’t become the norm.
Format
Our blended format includes two components:
Workshop Activities (one day virtual session): practise and feedback of key concepts with our facilitator engaging with you live using coaching, scenarios, activities, reflection and discussions
Post-workshop Activities (at your own pace): we’ll touch base with you several times to remind you to apply what you’ve learned
Registration closes on April 16
